He's a man who viewed duty and discipline above what might be considered emotionally right, if it came down to it. He idolized his father for years, strove to be everything Arthur wanted him to be. He went into the Navy, became an officer, even married his wife Heidi, because it was the plan his father had laid out for him. He went to law school, learned how to bend the law, learned the languages and nuiances of loopholes and carefully worded contracts, all in preparation for the path he had in front of him: the political arena. He can be cold and calculating, downright ruthless, if it suits his plans and goals. As much as he tries to hide any feelings, though, he does feel deeply for his family, and in particular his brother. Their relationship was a love-hate one, often pitting them on opposite sides of a fight. When he makes up his mind that he is right about something, he rarely will relent, unless proven absolutely wrong (as he was with his government program against specials). He was stubborn and occasionally confrontational, though he knew how to shmooze his way through most situations, if it came down to it. His emotions are a bit more unstable, now that he has died, and it makes it difficult for him to reconcile what he knows happened with what he feels. He doesn't quite remember how to be the man he once was, and it has left him lost and unsure of what to do, now. He's also an evolved human, with the ability of self-propelled flight, as well as the brother of Peter Petrelli, father of Claire Bennet, and son of Angela and Arthur Petrelli.
